Dr. Marleen Haverty, ND, LAc
Dr. Marleen Haverty is a licensed Naturopathic Physician in Oregon and Washington and an acupuncturist in Oregon. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Marleen brings a wealth of expertise in naturopathic medicine and acupuncture to her patients. She completed her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University in 1997, alongside a Master’s in Acupuncture, and went on to serve as clinical faculty and resident at Bastyr’s Center for Natural Health. Her education is further enriched by a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from Penn State University and a Bachelor of Science from Cal Poly State University.
Dr. Marleen’s approach to patient care is rooted in individualized treatment plans that combine physical modalities like acupuncture and botanical medicine with a focus on the mind-body connection. She empowers her patients by nurturing their own innate healing potential, guiding them toward optimal health through a blend of natural therapies, lifestyle counseling, and traditional herbal medicine.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Marleen is a dedicated educator. She lectures at Bastyr University in Herbal Sciences, Naturopathic Medicine, and Botanical Medicine, and has shared her expertise through lectures at the University of Washington’s Schools of Nursing and Social Work. Her work with tribal communities includes teaching courses on traditional herbal medicines for the Port Gamble S’Kallam and Lower Elwa tribes, reflecting her commitment to cultural competence and the integration of traditional practices in modern healthcare.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Marleen is actively involved in her Lakota Sioux heritage, participating in cultural traditions and contributing her voice to advocacy work. Her story was featured in An American Debt Unpaid, a publication presented to Congress to highlight Native American healthcare issues.
Dr. Marleen specializes in a range of conditions, including allergies, autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular health, chronic fatigue, dermatology, digestive issues, hormone balance, mood and sleep disorders, and women’s health. Her treatment modalities include acupuncture, botanical and Chinese medicine, clinical nutrition, counseling, homeopathy, and trigger point injections.
