Featured Artist Jennifer Bakker

Jennifer BakkerHawthorn Healing Arts Center’s February Featured Artist is Jennifer Bakker. Jennifer Bakker, a Chicago-born abstract expressionist painter, is celebrated for her dynamic explorations of color, form, and texture. Utilizing innovative techniques such as aluminum foil and plaster on canvases, she imbues her compositions with depth and complexity. Jennifer’s artistic journey began with a foundation in drawing, honed during her Fine Art studies at the University of Missouri. After a decade in mosaic art and nursing, she returned to painting in 2000, focusing on abstract expressionism. Her work reflects a profound exploration of color relationships and textured surfaces, aiming to provoke emotional and visceral responses rather than cognitive explanation in today’s information-saturated world. Music deeply influences her creative process, inspiring visually stimulating and profoundly beautiful artwork. Jennifer Bakker’s paintings grace private collections worldwide, as she continues to innovate within abstract expressionism, capturing emotion and beauty through paint with unwavering dedication in her studio practice.
