We are delighted to welcome Dr Sonja Halsey ND, back to Hawthorn Healing Arts Center! With her extensive background in naturopathic medicine and integrative care, Dr. Halsey brings a renewed passion for helping patients achieve balance and well-being in body, mind, and spirit.
Dr. Halsey is a licensed Naturopathic Physician with a rich academic and clinical background. Before earning her doctorate from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR, she spent eight years at the University of Michigan Medical School conducting research in molecular oncology. This scientific foundation shapes her whole-systems approach to patient care, blending rigorous investigation with the healing power of natural medicine.
Her clinical expertise includes functional mental and emotional health, neurophysiological wellness, women’s hormone health, integrative primary care, and regenerative joint therapies. After completing a residency at TrueNorth Health Center, Dr. Halsey spent six years working in integrative primary care, women’s health, and regenerative joint medicine, developing a comprehensive perspective on how to address the root causes of health challenges.
Functional Mental Health Care
Now, she is excited to focus on mental health care using a functional medicine lens. Dr. Halsey goes beyond the traditional approach of therapy and psychiatric medications, exploring underlying factors that impact mental and emotional well-being. These include gut health, inflammation, nutritional imbalances, nervous system regulation, and hormone balance. By addressing these root causes, she helps patients achieve lasting improvements in their mental health, offering tools like breathwork, craniosacral therapy, and other techniques to enhance the connection between mind and body.
Regenerative Joint Therapy
In addition to her focus on mental health, Dr. Halsey specializes in regenerative joint therapies, including ozonated platelet-rich plasma therapy, prolotherapy and prolozone. These innovative treatments promote the body’s natural healing processes, offering relief and recovery for conditions like ligament and tendon injuries, joint pain, osteoarthritis, and inflammation. Whether you’re an athlete recovering from an injury or someone seeking to move with less pain, Dr. Halsey’s treatments provide effective, minimally invasive solutions to restore mobility and vitality.
